Tributes Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public individuals expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative claims that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an aide could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
