Previous BBC Advisers Undergo MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Assertions of Partiality in Disclosed Memorandum
We open with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, that chairs the group.
She initiates by providing background to the disclosed memo prepared by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the BBC slanting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it neutral, fair and equitable," he says.
Upon being questioned whether he considers the BBC is systematically partial, he answers: "No I don't. It is important to note, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - encompassing factual and entertainment content."
Nevertheless, he states: "There exists significant effort that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another former external British Broadcasting Corporation consultant questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she views the BBC very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" on dynamic and complex issues.
"Was the BBC ready to conduct a proper dialogue and debate and implement changes?" she reflects. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
