Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and providing guidance to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he told his interviewer: “I said I won't manage any other side on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“At 58 years old, that means I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations would need to occur to draw him back to management, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad also. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
