Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
